On Tuesday, September 16, 2025, the ECHO-WAVE project was officially presented during a press conference. Alongside Patrick Witte (GPSS S.A.) and Paul Zeimet (Soler S.A.) representing the project consortium, the Minister of the Economy, SMEs, Energy and Tourism, Lex Delles, as well as Mrs. Sanna Alaranta from Luxinnovation, took part.
With ECHO-WAVE (“Energy Community for Hydrogen On-site Production from Wind and AgriVoltaics for Industry DEcarbonisation”), the first Luxembourg-based project supported under the European Innovation Fund Call has been launched. The project receives EU funding of €12,964,904, which complements the national support provided by the Ministry of the Economy (MECO) through Luxembourg’s successful participation in the national pilot call for green hydrogen production. The aim of the initiative is to make a decisive contribution to the decarbonisation of industry and mobility in Luxembourg and the Greater Region through the production and use of green hydrogen.
Minister Delles stated: “With the ECHO-WAVE project, GPSS S.A. and Soler S.A. are sending a strong signal for the future of sustainable industry in Luxembourg. I congratulate both companies on this important milestone – the first Luxembourg project to be funded by the European Innovation Fund. This is where innovative ideas are being brought to life: hydrogen production powered by wind and PV electricity, along with battery storage for intermediate power balancing. The realisation of this project will be a key piece of the puzzle in our national energy transition.”
Ms. Alaranta also emphasised that ECHO-WAVE’s successful participation in the highly competitive Innovation Fund represents an outstanding achievement for Luxembourg and the Greater Region. She encouraged other Luxembourg companies to follow GPSS’s example and also take part in European calls with innovative projects.
The event was attended by representatives of the national press. Coverage was provided, among others, by RTL.lu and WOXX.
